Schwinn Turismo Review:
What I Love
Price – First of all, the Schwinn Turismo is nearly half the price of other high end swivel jogging strollers. That in itself is a huge benefit. In fact, when parents tell me that they’re looking for a quality swivel jogger at a reasonable price, one that won’t cost an arm and leg, I almost always recommend the Schwinn Turismo. It has everything you need, including a smooth suspension system, the swiveling front wheel, and a comfortable reclining seat for the little one.
Remote Locking Mechanism – This is by far my favorite feature. You can actually lock and unlock the front swivel wheel from the handle-bar. Very few swivel joggers actually offer this feature. If you’ve ever used a swivel jogging stroller before, you know that normally you have to physically pull or replace a pin to use the swivel/fixed wheel feature.
Adjustable Handlebar – Once again, only a select few swivel joggers offer an adjustable handle bar, and the Turismo is one of them. It’s an extremely useful feature, especially if you’re above or below average height. As far as I’m concerned, there is no one size fits all when it comes to jogging strollers, even if you are of average height, so having the ability to find out what position is most comfortable for you is HUGE in my book.
Extra’s – Okay, so I could care less about the iBaby sound system, but I do love the fact that the Schwinn Turismo comes with a parent tray and a pivoting child’s tray. So, not only is already half the price, but you don’t have to spend extra on accessories. The Schwinn Turismo comes with everything you need! You also get a faux lambskin seat pad for extra comfort and warmth. What more could you ask for?
What I Don’t Like
The iBaby Sound System, or MP3 Speaker, or whatever you call it, is kind of a joke. It’s a little tiny speaker with crappy sound quality. I don’t know about anybody else, but when I listen to music I would like to actually be able to hear what song I’m listening to. On the upside, I really could care less. I’d rather listen to the sounds of nature, or my daughter belting out the “Itsy Bitsy Spider”.
The storage on the Schwinn Turismo is also minimal. There is no seat back storage or any other additional pockets. Just the storage basket underneath. For me, it’s not that big of a deal. I usually carry my backpack with me everywhere I go, but if you plan on running down to the corner grocery store, you won’t be able to bring much home.
As far as customer feedback goes, the Schwinn Turismo really did awesome. With 83 out of 91 rating it 4 to 5 stars, that a 91% customer satisfaction rating. Most were extremely pleased, especially for the price. As far as complaints go, they all pretty much mirror my own. There were a few reviewers that complained about the size and weight. The Schwinn Turimso isn’t light, it weighs about 31 pounds, which is about 6 pounds heavier than say the BOB Revolution SE. When it’s folded, it does take up a fair amount of space, but so does any other swivel jogging stroller. The only other complaint I found was regarding the seat. This particular reviewer stated that he had a hard time fitting his daughter in the seat with her winter jacket on. There is an option to buy additional belt extensions, however that just means you have more buckles to deal with. Personally, I would ditch the winter jacket, buckle them up, and wrap a bunch of blankets around the kid. That might work.
The Schwinn Turismo is not super fancy. It may not shine on the show room floor like say the BOB Revolution, but it doesn’t need to. It has everything you need, and more. I honestly feel that the Schwinn Turismo is one of the BEST jogging strollers out there, especially for the price.
