Finding the perfect all-terrain stroller can be tough. If it just so happens that you’re comparing the Kolcraft Contours Stroller – Options 3 Wheeler with the Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller (2012), I might be able to help.
Both the Baby Jogger City Mini and the Kolcraft Contours offer 8-inch front locking swivel wheels, as well as adjustable 5 point child safety harness’s, reclining seats, adjustable canopies, under seat storage, and both have a max weight of 50 pounds. Both also offer quick fold designs, the Baby Jogger City Mini folds in one simple step, and the Kolcraft Contours offers an easy two-handed trigger fold.
As for differences, the Baby Jogger City Mini offers a lager canopy with more adjustments. It also has 8-inch rear wheels, and the front wheel has double sides for more stability.
The Kolcaft Contours Stroller has 12-inch rear wheels, and it offers a unique reversible seat that can either face forward, or face inward towards the Parent. It can also be removed all-together and replaced with a car seat.
Perhaps the most important difference of them all, at least in my book, is the price tag. The Kolcraft Contours Stroller will run you about $169.99. The Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller, 2012 edition will run you about $249.99. That’s about $80 dollars more than the Kolcraft Contours. So why does the Baby Jogger City Mini cost so much more, especially when the Kolcraft offers extra’s like the pivoting child cup holder, the parent tray with cup holders and storage, or the grab bumper bar and car seat attachment? The reason is…..QUALITY. The Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller is built with more expensive materials, for instance the quick-release EVA wheels, sealed ball bearing, and front wheel suspension.
As for reviews, they both did really well. The Baby Jogger City Mini 2012 had 17 out of 19 reviewers rate it 4 to 5 stars, with 5 being the max. In other words, 89% of the reviewers loved it and would recommend it. The Kolcraft Contours Stroller had 35 out of 43 reviewers rate it 4 to 5 stars, so that’s 81%. In the end, what it all comes down to is, are you willing to spend the extra $55 to $90 dollars for quality quick-release EVA wheels, sealed ball bearings, and front wheel suspension? If so, than the Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller is the best all-terrain stroller for you. On the other hand would you rather save the money and have both parent and child trays, a reversible seat, and a car seat attachment? If so, than I would recommend the Kolcraft Contours Stroller.
